Pyrotechnics have always been a thorn in the side of the DFB. Accordingly, offenses are sanctioned with fines. The Revierklubs are not spared from this either.
3,698,595 euros. This is how much money has been transferred to the German Football Association (DFB) by clubs from the three professional leagues so far this season. The reason: fines for burning pyrotechnics or confrontations with the police. The local clubs have also had to dig deep into their pockets.
In the Bundesliga, VfL Bochum ranks highest in the table from the point of view of the clubs from the Ruhr region, compiled and prepared by the fan portal fussballmafia.de. The club had to pay 112,000 euros. More than half of the sum (63,000 euros) came from the away game at Schalke in the first half of the season, when VfL fans had burned down pyrotechnics. Overall, Bochum is in sixth place in the rankings, which are led by Eintracht Frankfurt (392,100 euros).
The Revierrival from Gelsenkirchen is just behind the VfL with 102,500 euros. A derby away game also cost Schalke dearly. The use of pyrotechnics in the first leg at Borussia Dortmund cost 34,000 euros. BVB is eleventh in the penalty table with 65,000 euros.
At least in terms of penalties, Rot-Weiss Essen is in a different league there. So far, the club has been fined 36,900 euros, which ranks sixth in the 3rd division. Most recently, the burning of pyrotechnics at the away game at Viktoria Köln cost 11,900€.
