Türkspor Dortmund is aiming for promotion to the Oberliga Westfalen. The contracts of captain Ömer Akman and co-captain Muhammed Acil were extended early.
Türkspor Dortmund is currently in the thick of the promotion battle in the Westfalenliga 2. Head coach Sebastian Tyrala’s team is still in second place, just one point off the top, after a 0-0 draw in the top match against FC Brünninghausen.
In order to realise the dream of promotion to the Oberliga Westfalen and to be able to plan for the longer term, the contracts of two key players were recently extended. Team captain Ömer Akman and co-captain and goalkeeper Muhammed Acil will stay with TSD for another year.
Akman still has a lot of plans with his team in the current season. “We have set out as a team to think from game to game and win every game if possible. We definitely want to move up,” revealed the 30-year-old. In addition, Akman gave the reasons for his contract extension.
“It’s an awesome club with an awesome atmosphere and overall a really good bunch. It is simply fun to play for this club and I feel very, very comfortable at Türkspor, whether on or off the pitch. We definitely want to get promoted in the future and then we’ll see what happens next,” Akman explained.
“The club is on a really good and healthy path.
In addition to Akman, co-captain Acil also extended his contract with the Dortmund side for another year. Acil is the number one between the posts at Türkspor and also showed his qualities on the line in the goalless draw against FC Brünninghausen. The goalkeeper did not have to think long about an extension.
“Our plan is to move up to the Oberliga in the long term. If it works out this season, it would of course be all the better. The conversation about my extension lasted a maximum of ten minutes and then I already agreed directly,” revealed the goalkeeper.
Everything is developing quite well and quickly at Türkspor at the moment and I want to be part of this project.

Acil continued: “The club is on a really good and healthy path and that is especially important to me. I also spent seven years in Brünninghausen during my career and know what a healthy club structure looks like. Everything is developing pretty well and fast at Türkspor at the moment and I want to be part of this project.”
On the upcoming matchday 19, Türkspor Dortmund will face RSV Meinerzhagen at home. The first leg between the two teams on matchday 4 ended in a 2-2 draw.
