SV Schermbeck have had an outstanding first half of the season and are in third place after 17 games. And the squad is now being strengthened further.
17 games and 37 points: SV Schermbeck spent the winter just three points behind leaders Sportfreunde Lotte.
This winter transfer also proves that Schermbeck still have a lot planned for the second half of the season.
Michael Olczyk will join the squad of the Westphalian Oberliga club from January 1, 2024 and strengthen the team of Sleiman Salha and Richard Weber. This was announced by Head of Sport Cem Kara to Forecasting.
“Michael is a Dorsten boy and lives five minutes away from Schermbeck. He has moved the center of his life back to Dorsten, so it’s a perfect fit. I’ve been after him for a while. But now it’s worked out. He’s starting a job on January 1 and he can combine that perfectly with the Oberliga soccer with us. He will liven up the competition. We’re delighted that he’s joining us,” explained Kara.
We are close and in the end it will be the little things that decide. We want to be accused of not doing everything we could to seize this great opportunity. That’s another reason why we used the opportunity to sign Michael Olczyk.

The fact that Schermbeck have their sights set on the top two places, which would mean promotion to the Regionalliga West, is confirmed by Kara’s statement: “We’re close and in the end it will be small things that decide. We don’t want to be accused of not doing everything we can to take advantage of this great opportunity. That’s another reason why we took the opportunity to sign Michael Olczyk. He brings great quality with him. We’ll now rest up and attack again in the new year.”
Right-back Olczyk, who comes from Dorsten, had been without a club since the summer of 2023. He was most recently under contract with north-east regional league side Berliner AK. Before leaving FC Schalke 04’s Knappenschmiede in the summer of 2017 after ten years, the German-Polish international also played for Polish clubs Olimpia Grudziadz and Arka Gdynia. He can look back on a total of 25 appearances in the regional league and eight games in Poland’s top division, the Ekstraklasa
