Fortuna Düsseldorf’s home match against Hamburger SV is sold out. For a special reason, up to 20,000 Hamburg fans will be in the stadium.
The HSV Supporters Club was founded on 28 March 1993. On Tuesday, the Supporters Club will thus celebrate its 30th birthday. And three days after the round anniversary, Hamburger SV has the all-important match at Fortuna Düsseldorf in the 2nd Bundesliga coming up.
HSV is coming to the fourth-placed team in third place, and for Fortuna it is probably the last chance to register in the promotion race. One thing is already clear: it will be a gigantic crowd.
The game is sold out. 51,200 spectators will be in the Merkur Spiel-Arena. Due to the anniversary of the HSV Supporters Club (more than 60,000 members), up to 20,000 Hamburg supporters are expected in Düsseldorf. And the Hamburg supporters will even be wearing a special jersey to mark the anniversary.
“This is more than impressive and should be properly appreciated,” wrote HSV on its homepage. Düsseldorf is also looking forward to a great evening of football.
The anticipation for the first sold-out game after the Corona period is enormous
Alexander Jobst
Alexander Jobst, Chairman of the Board of Fortuna, says: “The anticipation for the first sold-out game after the Corona period is huge. The team, our fans and the whole city deserve a full arena.”
Seven points separate Fortuna and Hamburger SV before the encounter, so it is clear. Düsseldorf must win if there is to be any faint hope of a Bundesliga return.
Because after the 90 minutes in the sold-out stadium, there are only eight games left until the end of the season. But the chances are not bad, because Fortuna won three of the last four games. HSV, on the other hand, have only managed to win one of their last four games.
