TSG Sprockhövel are not yet out of the relegation battle in the Oberliga Westfalen. But there are reasons to hope that things will improve soon.
It would come as no surprise if TSG Sprockhövel were to feel a little uneasy. In 14th place at the winter break, they are anything but on a safe shore in the Oberliga Westfalen. But quite the opposite. The mood has not changed and is stable. Because the coaching team and the squad continue to pull together. And when the will and desire to improve comes from the players, what more could a coach ask for?
TSG coach Yakup Göksü on…
The first half of the league season: “I’m particularly pleased with the footballing side of things. We’ve developed more and more there. But there were always those careless mistakes and we simply lack a perfect striker in front of goal, which we simply don’t have at the moment. I would have liked to have six to nine points in the bag. But the performance against the teams at the top has always been right. That wasn’t always the case last season. It’s really good that some players from the A-youth team have now recommended themselves for the first team and are also playing.”
What was your best moment? “It’s just such a nice moment that the young players can all show themselves. The development is what I enjoy most right now.”
What was your worst moment? “That was the game in Siegen. That was really our worst game. We were completely disembodied, nothing worked.”
The goals for 2024: “We had planned for it to be a quieter season than last year. It’s clear to us that we want to stay in the league. We’re also making good progress on both fronts. We’ve shown that we can play in every game. The team knows that it still has to get a little better. The boys already said after the last game that they want to step on the gas and eliminate the mistakes. I’m in good spirits because it’s already a great team. “
