The captain stays on board! Hahn extends expiring contract

MSV Duisburg presents its fans with a wonderful Christmas present. Captain Alexander Hahn will remain with the Zebras beyond the end of the season.

This is great news for the fans and officials of MSV Duisburg! Captain and defensive leader Alexander Hahn has extended his contract, which was due to expire next summer, as the third division club announced on Christmas Eve. Hahn moved from SC Preußen Münster to Duisburg-Meiderich in the summer of 2024 and led the club as captain through the regional league back into the third division. To date, the 32-year-old has played 55 competitive games (eight goals, three assists) for MSV, 19 of them this season. Now many more will follow. In a video message, the center back spoke personally. “What an incredible year, what incredible moments we have celebrated together,” Hahn said to the fans, announcing: “I can already tell you that I will be staying with you beyond this season, giving my all for you and continuing to give 90 minutes of full throttle on the pitch. I’m really excited about that!”

Born in Omsk, Russia, Hahn trained at SV Werder Bremen, among others. This was followed by spells at SV Meppen (36 games), 1. FC Saarbrücken (75 games), FC 08 Homburg (69 games), Rot-Weiss Essen (61 games), Viktoria Berlin (19 games), and Preußen Münster (56 games).

Previously, MSV Duisburg, which had an outstanding first half of the season in the 3rd division as a promoted team and is currently in a sensational third place, had already announced contract extensions with successful coach Dietmar Hirsch and his assistants, as well as the two top performers Can Coskun and Max Braune. The contracts of Simon Symalla, Jakob Bookjans, and Patrick Sussek were also extended during the season. The basic framework is therefore already in place for the coming season.
