Borussia Dortmund must face Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday (15.30). The Hessians have great respect for BVB’s strength.
Fourth against fifth: Eintracht Frankfurt welcomes Borussia Dortmund on Saturday for a chasing duel in the Bundesliga.
The Hessians have won the last two games – 5:1 against Leverkusen, 3:1 in Mönchengladbach – impressively and will enter the match against Borussia with a broad chest.
“Of course we want to celebrate a home win. Dortmund, however, got into a good groove after the defeat at Union and played very well against Stuttgart and Manchester City. Especially as they have now gone three games without conceding a goal. I think BVB have a slightly different style of play under Edin Terzic, especially a good counter-attacking game with a lot of speed via Karim Adeyemi, Youssoufa Moukoko or Jude Bellingham. We have to be on our guard. It will be another difficult task for us,” warns Eintracht coach Oliver Glasner about these three BVB stars.
With all due respect, the Frankfurt team does not want to and will not hide. They have already proven in the Bundesliga that they can beat even the top teams. “We have thought about something to give the players to crack BVB’s defence. But we can’t, won’t and won’t change our playing system, we need our whole repertoire again tomorrow. At this level, we have to exploit all facets to come off the pitch as winners,” Glasner emphasised.
Eintracht Frankfurt: Mario Götze spent 16 years at BVB
Of course Glasner knows that the match will be a very special one for one of his charges. Mario Götze has spent a total of 16 years at BVB and played 219 competitive games (45 goals, 61 assists) for the Black and Yellows. Glasner on the 30-year-old: “Mario has trained a little individually because of back problems. But he is coping very well with the tight programme and is an important player for us. The boys don’t make a tired impression. Mario can’t carry the offence on his own, and he doesn’t have to. With his Dortmund past, he will certainly be able to help us. “
