FC Gütersloh has the seven-league boots on. A few days after promotion, the first two additions have been presented.
On Sunday, FC Gütersloh made promotion perfect with a 2-0 win against SF Lotte. From the Oberliga Westfalen, the team moves to the Regionalliga West.
A different wind will blow here in the future, so reinforcements are needed. The club has already presented two of them.
The first is Lennard Rolf, who joins Gütersloh from Westfalen-Oberliga team Delbrücker SC. The 23-year-old winger scored nine goals in 25 Oberliga games this season.
Coach Julian Hesse emphasises: “Lennard is a younger player who of course still has to improve in some areas. But he brings an extremely exciting physicality and has very, very good speed with the ball. In Delbrück, he scored a lot of scorer points, which is not a given for a club from the bottom of the table.”
After Rolf, Hendrik Lohmar also moves from SC Wiedenbrück to FC Gütersloh. He signed for two years with FCG. Lohmar should help with his experience. He has played 153 games in the Regionalliga for SC Wiedenbrück, SC Verl, Viktoria Köln, Fortuna Düsseldorf II and FC Schalke 04 II, scoring 13 goals.
The 26-year-old midfielder, who was trained in his youth by FC Schalke among others, played in 21 championship matches this season (three goals). “He is a technically strong footballer and a head of character. We hope that he will give us more variety in our play,” said Hesse, explaining the signing.
FC Gütersloh still have four games in the Oberliga Westfalen ahead of them before they have to fight to keep their place in the Regional League. On their farewell tour, they go to TuS Ennepetal, SC Paderborn II, against Preußen Münster II and the last game of the season is at TSG Sprockhövel.
