The goal is clear – Überruhr wants to stay in the league

After a strong season, Blau-Gelb Überruhr celebrated promotion to the national league. Coach Murat Aksoy firmly believes in staying in the league. The captain leaves the team

FC Blau-Gelb Überruhr played an outstanding 2023/24 season in the Bezirksliga Group 6. In the end, Überruhr had 90 points to its name and only lost two games in the entire season – the last of which was in November 2023. Promotion to the Landesliga 2 was therefore more than deserved.

Überruhr coach Murat Aksoy sums up the season: “It was an outstanding season in a strong district league. Every player and every manager at the club can be proud of this achievement. We were able to assert ourselves strongly against the competition. You couldn’t have guessed that before the season.”

Although few saw Überruhr as the clear favorite before the season, Blau-Gelb played a dominant round. The coach explains the success: “The chemistry was just right. We had a high level of participation in training and a great community in the squad. The relationship between us was always respectful and friendly, even when things got loud in training. I’ve never had a feeling like that within the team in my coaching career. “

The goal is to stay in the league. But I trust the team and am convinced that we will achieve this goal

Although a strong community helps, in soccer you also have to be convincing on the pitch. “We analyzed our opponents well. Nevertheless, we played our game regardless of the opponent. We were very flexible. We played a strong attacking pressing game for many phases and scored early goals. Nevertheless, we were compact at the back,” said Aksoy.

The coach is now looking forward to the coming season. They won’t be able to be as dominant again in the national league. The 36-year-old coach knows that too: “The league is brutal. Many clubs have invested well. We definitely have to readjust tactically and technically. The goal is to stay in the league. But I trust the team and am convinced that we will achieve this goal.”

Blau-Gelb Überruhr also needs to reorganize its squad. Even if it is not a major shake-up, some players are leaving the club. Among the departures is captain Ahmet Kizilisik. He shone with a total of 50 (!) scoring points.

“Ahmet Kizilisik is a great person and footballer. Of course, his departure hurts. The other players have left us to get more playing time. We were able to strengthen ourselves with good young players. We are currently in talks with a few players who even have experience in the Oberliga or Regionalliga,” explains Aksoy.

In the coming season, current assistant coach Adrian Jeglorz will take over as coach. Aksoy said: “Adrian is a great coach and he was already captain in the Oberliga. He has a lot of experience. I’ll still be part of the coaching team, but I’ll be taking a step back for professional or time reasons. “
