“The guys said after the last game that they wanted to step on the gas.”

TSG Sprockhövel is still in the relegation battle in the Oberliga Westfalen. But there are reasons to be hopeful that things will improve soon.

It would not be a surprise if a little adversity were to spread at TSG Sprockhövel. In 14th place at the winter break, they are anything but safe in the Oberliga Westfalen. But quite the opposite. The mood is not tipping over, it is stable. Because the coaching team and the squad continue to pull in the same direction. And if the will and desire for improvement then comes from the players, what more could a coach want?

TSG coach Yakup Göksü on…

The first half of the season in the league: “I am particularly satisfied with the footballing side of things. We have developed more and more. But there were always these careless mistakes and in front of goal we simply lack a perfect striker, who just doesn’t exist anymore. I would have liked to have seen six to nine points on the board. But we always performed well against the teams at the top. That wasn’t always the case last season. It’s really good that some of the players who came through the A-youth team have now recommended themselves for the first team and are playing.”

What was your best moment? ”It’s a great moment that all the young players can show themselves. The further development is what I enjoy most right now.”

What was your worst moment? “That was the game in Siegen. That really was our worst game. We were completely out of shape, nothing worked.”

The goals for 2024: “We had set ourselves the goal of having a quieter season than last year. It’s clear to us that we want to stay in the league. We are also on the right track in both respects. We have shown that we can play in every game. The team knows that it still needs to improve. After the last game, the guys said that they want to step on the gas and fix the mistakes. I’m in a good place because it’s already a great team.”
