Rot-Weiss Essen drew 1-1 with FC Ingolstadt on Saturday. The highlights of the match are available in the video from Magenta Sport.
There are certainly worse things than taking a point from FC Ingolstadt. However, the result of the 1-1 draw on Saturday was extremely annoying for Rot-Weiss Essen.
RWE had taken the lead after 80 minutes, Cedric Harenbrock had scored the celebrated goal. It would have been big points for the Bergeborbecker. But in the 90th minute, Ingolstadt’s Jalen Hawkins came on and scored to make it 1-1, so the Esseners had to settle for a draw. They are eight points above the relegation zone in 13th place.

Ingolstadt – RWE: What the coaches had to say about the game on Magenta Sport
FCI coach Guerino Capretti: “I am satisfied that we took something home. In my opinion, we started the game well… But compliments to the boys for turning the game around… I’m happy that we went ahead and scored a goal. But overall I saw my team further ahead. I would have liked to have won.”
RWE coach Christoph Dabrowski: “Of course it’s extremely annoying at the back. We have a throw-in situation in the opponent’s penalty area and then open up the interface with a long ball. We put in a courageous performance and played a very good game. We would have liked to take home the three points, but now we are very disappointed. The performance was alright. This is the third time now, but we have to learn from the situations. “
