The two-meter giant has a few requests – “I want to go to the regional league”

The sell-off at SV Straelen has begun. After the club’s withdrawal from the Oberliga, the players are looking for a new club. This includes Dacain Baraza.

With Marcio Blank, who is moving to Landesliga club SV Scherpenberg, the first player has left the bankrupt club SV Straelen, which is withdrawing from the Oberliga Niederrhein. The next players will follow in the next few days.

Dacain Baraza, the defensive leader of the team currently in third place in the Oberliga, is also currently in negotiations with several clubs. “I have shown in the last two years that I can play in both the Oberliga and the Regionalliga. I am very confident that I will find a good club,” says the 24-year-old.

Baraza joined Straelen in January 2022. He won the 2022 Niederrhein Cup with the club from the Römerstraße and was also able to celebrate avoiding relegation with SVS in the Regionalliga West.

“All in all, it was a good time with a bitter end in Straelen. I played 39 regional league games and 17 upper league games for the club. I always had a good relationship with Hermann Tecklenburg and felt comfortable at the club. The end was sad, of course. It was as if someone had thrown you in at the deep end without warning. Now everyone has to think of themselves and make the best of the situation,” says the Wuppertal native, who also lives in the city of the suspension railway.

I want to go to the regional league. I know I can do it. But there is also the option to move to ambitious Oberliga teams. A well-considered decision will be made in the next few days.

Dacain Baraza

The two-meter giant would prefer to live on the Wupper and stay in the soccer west. “But it’s not a request concert,” Baraza also knows. Because the central defender could also imagine other directions when it comes to his new employer. Currently, it even looks like that.

According to forecasting information, Baraza is in contact with the Oberliga club Ratingen 04/19, the Regionalliga Nordost representative Chemie Leipzig, and the northern Regionalliga clubs SSV Jeddeloh and Norderstedt. “I want to go to the Regionalliga. I know I can do the league. But there is also the option of moving to ambitious Oberliga teams. A well-considered decision will be made in the next few days,” says Baraza.
