If all goes well, the regional league team KFC Uerdingen will soon be celebrating two six-figure incomes.
It took a long time, but now it’s certain: KFC Uerdingen will probably no longer be entering the regional league derby against MSV Duisburg with a bare chest.
Two deals with main sponsors turned out to be damp squids, but now, in the third attempt, everything seems to be in place. The KFC officially announced last weekend that the Mercedes-Benz-Herbrand Group, which operates a branch in Krefeld-Gartenstadt, has been acquired as the new main sponsor.
However, it was emphasized that the contract had not yet been signed, but that the club was looking forward to the final talks. It is not yet known whether these talks have taken place or not.
But according to RS information, the jerseys that KFC Uerdingen will wear in front of 10,000 spectators on Saturday against MSV Duisburg have already been flocked with the logo of the Mercedes-Benz-Herbrand Group.
And, what is also important, everything was submitted to the association in due time, as was confirmed when asked. The association told RS: “An application in accordance with the implementation regulations for the approval of advertising on the playing clothes for teams in the WDFV regional leagues has been submitted. And the application has been approved, so KFC Uerdingen can flock its jersey with the new sponsor and play with it tomorrow.”
Another important aspect is that the presumably sold-out stadium (as things stand, there will be no box office on the day of the game) will also bring KFC a further six-figure sum of fresh money.
This, together with a six-figure sum from the soon-to-be main sponsor, has allowed those in charge at KFC to breathe a sigh of relief for the time being. Even if the sum is not enough to cover all liabilities, the fresh income has given them a little breathing space.
If the KFC then manages the surprise against the league leaders in sporting terms, it could be an all-round successful afternoon in Krefeld again after many weeks.
