“There are no alibis” – Dogan expects mud battle in Ahlen

Ahead of the away game (Saturday, 2pm, RS live ticker) at Rot Weiss Ahlen, the pitch conditions are the main issue for Wuppertaler SV.

The euphoric return to the Stadion am Zoo, including the top match victory against Fortuna Köln, is followed by a supposedly compulsory task for Wuppertaler SV. On matchday 15 of the Regionalliga West, the team will travel to bottom-of-the-table Rot Weiss Ahlen (Saturday, November 11, 2 p.m.).

WSV coach Hüzeyfe Dogan spoke in advance about …

… Marco Terrazzino: “I’ve already mentioned several times that things just weren’t going well when he came on and it was difficult for him to show his qualities because he wasn’t at one hundred percent. He’s now more and more settled and is also in very good physical shape, so he can play 90 minutes. The fact that he has now rewarded himself with his first goal is particularly good for him as an attacking player and for us as a team.”

… the upcoming opponents Ahlen: “A number of suspended and injured players have returned, so they almost played with their full squad against Düren. They also changed their system, which was successful. Winning 3:1 in Düren is quite an achievement. They have a good team in terms of play, so we have to look after ourselves, accept the conditions and give it everything we’ve got.

… on the poor pitch conditions in Ahlen: “There are no alibis. It’s the same conditions for both teams. It could still rain by then and then it could be a muddy battle in the second half. We had our experiences in February (2:2, editor’s note). That wasn’t a great game from us, so the team has been warned. I hope we’ve learned from that and bring fight, composure and patience. It’s all about these virtues and having playful solutions and being ice-cold in the decisive moments.”

… Wuppertal’s personnel situation: “Unfortunately, Mert Gökcan won’t be available. He has torn his ankle ligament and will definitely miss a game. Lion Schweers will return to the squad instead. He has trained fully this week and we are confident that he will be able to play on Saturday. “
