In addition to the seniors, the DFB juniors are also going on an international tour. Talents from FC Schalke 04, Borussia Dortmund, VfL Bochum and even MSV Duisburg get to show off.
While the German senior national team will play test matches against Japan (Saturday, 9 September, 8.45 p.m.) and France (Tuesday, 12 September, 9 p.m.), the DFB’s U21, U20, U19, U17 and U16 age groups will also play a number of matches. Talented players from the Ruhr area will also be taking part.
The U21s are already testing against Ukraine on Friday (6.15 pm). The following Tuesday (7 p.m.), they will play Kosovo in the European Championship qualifiers. Coach Antonio di Salvo will again rely on Youssoufa Moukoko (18). The striker has already made six appearances for the U21s and scored six goals.
S04 newcomer and MSV talent celebrate U20 premiere
The U20s will play Italy in the so-called Elite League on Thursday (5 p.m.) and then Poland on Monday (4.15 p.m.). Schalke’s newcomer Yusuf Kabadayi (19) and Caspar Jander (20) will make their debut in the second-oldest junior team. While Schalke’s newcomer Kabadayi has already played for the German U18 and U19 teams, Duisburg’s Jander will celebrate his debut in the jersey of the German national team. Tim Oermann (19) from VfL Bochum has also been nominated. Joshua Quarshie (19, TSG Hoffenheim), a former Rot-Weiss Essen player, is also included.
Already on Wednesday (6 p.m.), the U19 national team will face England, followed by the duel with Switzerland on Tuesday. Christian Wörns will rely on left-back Vitalie Becker (18, Schalke 04), defensive midfielder Rafael Lubach (18, Borussia Dortmund) and centre-forward Mohammad Mahmoud (18, VfL Bochum) for the two matches. While Becker and Lubach have already played for the U17s and are now moving up to the U19s, Mahmoud is set to make his debut for Germany. The attacker, who has already scored four times for the VfL U19s this season, previously played for Palestine’s U20s (four games, one goal).
Numerous Revier players in the U17 and U18 teams
At the four-nation tournament, the U17s will face Israel (Thursday, 11 am), Denmark (Saturday, 4 pm) and Italy (Tuesday, 11 am). Five players from the Revier are taking part. Centre-back Tyler Meiser (16) and attacker Nick Cherny (16) from Borussia Dortmund, as well as right-back Kayhan Sayman (16) and centre-forward Taycan Etcibasi (16) from FC Schalke 04 and Bochum left-back Owono-Darnell Keumo (15) will represent the DFB.
Meanwhile, the U16s will play Austria twice (Friday, 6 pm/Monday, 11 am). With Osman Turay (14), Marc-Patrick Meister has nominated a player from FC Schalke 04.
Meanwhile, there is no match scheduled for the U18s. However, the year group, which recently celebrated the U17 European Championship, will not remain idle. Four Dortmund players and three Schalke players are taking part in a training course in Frankfurt. Borussia’s Paris Brunner (17, centre-forward), Almugera Kabar (17, left-back), Kjell Wätjen (17, central midfield) and Charles Hermann (17, left-winger) will have the chance to show their skills, as will the S04 talents Assan Ouedraogo (17, central midfield), Taylan Bulut (17, right-back) and Bilal Brusdeilinis (17, centre-forward).
