The DFB Cup quarter-finals will be played in April. Borussia Dortmund is the only club from the Ruhr area still in the tournament. These games will be shown on free TV.
Borussia Dortmund is dreaming of winning the DFB Cup, but has drawn a tough draw on the way there: After advancing in the small Revier derby against VfL Bochum, BVB must play the defending champions RB Leipzig in the quarter-finals.
The match will take place on Wednesday, 5 April, at 8.45 pm. And there is good news for all Dortmund fans who were hoping for a free-TV broadcast of the top match. ZDF will broadcast live from Leipzig. This was announced by the German Football Association (DFB) on Wednesday.
In total, three of the four quarter-finals will be shown on free-to-air TV. In addition to BVB’s performance, this also applies to the duels between Eintracht Frankfurt and Union Berlin (ZDF) and between FC Bayern München and SC Freiburg (ARD). Both matches will be played on Tuesday, 4 April. Frankfurt will play at 6 pm, the kick-off in Munich will be at 8.45 pm.
This means that only the early Wednesday match between 1. FC Nürnberg and VfB Stuttgart (6 p.m.) will be shown exclusively on pay-TV. Sky has secured the rights. The channel will also show all other quarter-finals parallel to the broadcasts of the public broadcaster.
