VfL Bochum will play two more test matches before the Christmas break. Coach Thomas Letsch will again use the full width of the squad.
VfL Bochum has already played two test matches. Two more are scheduled before the Christmas break. On Friday (16 December, 1 p.m.), VfL Bochum will look for their first win of the preparation against second-division team SC Paderborn.
Coach Thomas Letsch, however, does not want to overrate the two defeats against PEC Zwolle (1:3) and Karlsruher SC (1:2): “We want to win every test match, but it’s also about trying things out.” The goals conceded were sometimes preceded by hair-raising mistakes by the VfL backline.
“When something doesn’t work out, it annoys you. But of course it’s much more pleasant to learn from it than when it happens in a match.” In every match, the coach had changed all ten field players at half-time. Letsch is deliberately giving players who have rarely been on the pitch in the previous one the opportunity to show themselves.
“The most important thing is that the team is pulling along very well. It’s a new situation that we have a block in the winter without the next competitive game being on the doorstep.” In this one, he said, the main thing is to build up physical foundations. “The prerequisite for this is that the team wants it and knows what a big goal we have. They will do everything for that. “
In the end, only the first game will show whether we have used the break well or not.
