This is the candidate for coach – transfer fee is due

A lot of names are circulating around the Tivoli these days that are allegedly being considered as coaches for Alemannia Aachen. Forecasting knows the ideal candidate.

Alemannia Aachen have been looking for a new head coach for around two weeks following Helge Hohl’s dismissal. To date, Reiner Plaßhenrich, head of the youth development centre, has been acting as interim coach. After the 0:0 against Schalke II, the Aachen veteran will also coach the team on Saturday (2 September, 2 pm) at FC Gütersloh.

The new head coach will be introduced at the Tivoli in the new week starting on 4 September. Forecasting knows the candidate of choice for the Aachen management. As our editors have learned from the Alemannia circle, those responsible around Supervisory Board Chairman Marcel Moberz and Sports Director and Managing Director Sascha Eller want to bring a coach to the Kaiserstadt who is currently still under contract with another club.

This is Heiner Backhaus, coach of BFC Dynamo in the Regionalliga Nordost. The 41-year-old A-licence holder has had a very good start to the season with the traditional Berlin club with ten points from five games. It is no wonder that BFC officials would be reluctant to let Backhaus, who has a contract in Berlin until the summer of 2024, leave.

According to forecasting information, Aachen are in agreement with ex-professional Backhaus. The Witten-born player would like to take over the job at the Tivoli. However, the Aacheners are still at odds with the Berliners regarding a transfer fee for the coveted coach. The wires between Aachen and Berlin are glowing in order to reach an agreement by the start of the new week at the latest.

Eller revealed the requirements profile of the new coach to our editorial team in the last few days, saying: “It should be a man who is a kind of people catcher. Someone who has a clean character and with whom the team and the sporting management can work well together. We don’t need a tactician at the moment, but much more a coach type who gets into the boys’ heads.”

This description fits Backhaus like a glove. He is regarded as someone who can “set fire” to a team, a fan section. Backhaus also knows from his playing days what makes traditional clubs tick.

Heiner Backhaus played for Rot-Weiss Essen in the 2000/2001 season.

In his active career, Backhaus, who comes from the squad of FC Schalke 04, played for Rot-Weiss Essen, Hannover 96, Kickers Offenbach, Sachsen Leipzig, Union Berlin and Arminia Bielefeld, among others. In addition, he has had adventures in Cyprus, Malta and Hong Kong.

Backhaus has been a coach since 2014. After almost five years with Oberliga side Inter Leipzig, he moved on to BSV Rehden and a brief interlude at Sonnenhof Großaspach, then to Rot-Weiß Koblenz, then to Sportfreunde Lotte and finally to BFC Dynamo in July 2022. It is quite possible that Heiner Backhaus’ next stop will be Alemannia Aachen.
