SSVg Velbert presented Ismail Jaouri’s successor on Wednesday. He comes from the Middle Rhine region.
Regional league club SSVg Velbert has a new coach. The bottom-of-the-table team, which is still winless after eleven games and was also eliminated from the Lower Rhine Cup at home against 1. FC Bocholt on Tuesday, will now be coached by Bogdan Komorowski.
He was previously U17 coach at Bonner SC, then assistant and head coach at Bonner. He then moved to VfL Wolfsburg as a scout for licensed players. Most recently, he was coach of Fortuna Cologne’s U23 team (Mittelrheinliga).
Now he has moved to the Bergisch club, which he is expected to lead to safety so that it does not go straight back to the Oberliga in its first year after promotion.
After his move to Velbert, Komorowski emphasized: “I am happy to be here at a traditional club in the Bergisch Land. I am keen on soccer and this is an opportunity. The beautiful facilities that the club has built up over the years, the people who represent the club—these are all points in favor of SSVg. What’s more, the team is intact.”
Starting Thursday, he will now try to turn things around. These are the first steps the new man wants to take. “Things can only get better; they can’t get any worse. We’re only looking up. We have to pool all our resources and make a few adjustments. The next few weeks won’t be easy, but we want to make a statement.”
However, the opponents are tough. They are facing the U23 teams of BVB, Schalke 04, and 1. FC Köln. Komorowski: “I see it as a challenge; I’m a very positive person. The basis is hard work, that’s what I stand for. I identify with the task; it can only be done with unconditional passion.”
And in the end, the new coach wants to see a team on the pitch that “identifies fully with Velbert. That is the primary goal.”
