Rot-Weiß Oberhausen won the test match against TB Oberhausen 20:0. Afterwards, the RWO officials provided information on the status of Sven Kreyer and Michel Niemeyer.
Rot-Weiß Oberhausen have also won their second test match. And clearly. The final score was 20:0 at TB Oberhausen, a game in which the scorers could hardly keep up with the goal count. But of course, against a B-league team, it was also a game from which not many sporting insights could be drawn.
But that wasn’t the plan either. “Of course, you have to put that into perspective. We can’t take much out of it. But it’s always about the way you perform. And I think that’s great,” praised Oberhausen coach Sebastian Gunkel after the final whistle. However, he was also pleased that his team played through both halves in two completely different formations.
The new coach then turned his attention to the future. And a training camp for his newly formatted team would help significantly in the further preparation for the season, both from a sporting point of view and in terms of quickly finding a team. For him as the new RWO coach and the coaching team, too, such a measure would certainly be beneficial.
The crux of the matter is that it has not yet been decided whether the Cloverleafs will be able to afford such a training camp. However, the die seems to have been cast in favor of such a camp. Gunkel has indicated that a decision is imminent – and it seems to be a positive one. “It’s not one hundred percent certain. But we hope that it will be fixed as soon as possible and we are preparing for it,” explained Gunkel. “We’re really looking forward to it and are also very optimistic that it can be implemented.”
Whether Sven Kreyer and Michel Niemeyer will be part of the traveling party is highly doubtful. Neither player featured in either of the two test matches. “They’re training with us, but as a coach I don’t want to say much more than that,” said Gunkel.
Hajo Sommers was clearer: “We would like to terminate the contracts and are working on a satisfactory solution for all sides.” According to RS information, things could happen quickly, at least with Kreyer. The striker is said to have already received an offer from another club
