Thomas Tuchel on…
… his new job: “I am convinced that it is an honour and a distinction to be approached by FC Bayern. When you sign a contract, it’s a great honour. My express thanks for the trust go to Oliver Kahn, Hasan Salihamidžić, Herbert Hainer and Uli Hoeneß. Even when you work abroad for a while, you become even more aware of the importance of FC Bayern. The DNA of the club is a commitment. Bayern is about winning, also about the way. The squad is one of the most talented and best squads in Europe. It is a great anticipation to work with this squad. You can play for any title with this squad. It’s also a big commitment. In the end, it’s also a personal reason to work near my family. It’s a constellation of many reasons to commit quickly.”
… the process of the commitment: “The timing was surprising, I didn’t expect it and there was no contact beforehand. I assumed that I would continue my career abroad. The first conversation was on Tuesday evening. The size of the challenge then tipped the scales in favour of me doing it. I was already in very close contact with Bayern once. At that time, I couldn’t wait. It would never be appropriate to put anyone under pressure. It happened very quickly, it’s a top solution for me. “
.. the upcoming tasks: “We don’t really have much time. I will probably not see the national players until Friday. It’s a surprising time, also because the title is still possible in all competitions. Therefore, less is more, it will be about details. I have an idea of what can be done and a lot of anticipation. It’s about playing for all the titles.”
… the coaching team: “My coaching team was not prepared either, so a big thank you to the flexibility of the families as well. Arno Michels and Zsolt Löw will be there, who have been working with me for over ten years. We hope to add Anthony Barry, who is currently still under contract with Chelsea. “
