Who gets the championship trophy? And from whom? At least the latter was announced by the German Football League before the Bundesliga final.
Borussia Dortmund will be presented with the Bundesliga championship trophy by DFL Executive Committee member Ansgar Schwenken if they win the title this Saturday after the match against FSV Mainz 05. The 53-year-old will have the original of the eleven-kilogram trophy ready for the occasion at the Dortmund stadium.
At the stadium of 1. FC Köln, however, a copy of the trophy will be ready for the visit of FC Bayern – should FC Bayern still be able to celebrate the title, Jan-Christian Dreesen will be in charge of the handover. Like Schwenken, Dreesen is a member of the executive committee of the German Football League – and still the CFO of Bayern. He is rumoured to be a candidate for the DFL managing director post, which will be vacant from July, but also plays a role in Bayern’s own planning.
BVB go into the season finale with two points more than Bayern, both games kick off at 15.30 (Sky).
