This number one moves to the 1st Bundesliga

SG Dynamo Dresden’s number one Stefan Drljaca is moving from the 3rd division to the 1st Bundesliga.

Dynamo Dresden have signed their next new signing for the upcoming season in the 3rd division. The Saxons signed goalkeeper Tim Schreiber on Tuesday, who comes from the youth ranks of SC Borea.

Schreiber was most recently under contract with RB Leipzig, but was loaned out to 1. FC Saarbrücken. The goalkeeper joins VfB from Dynamo Dresden and signs a contract until June 30, 2027.

The contracts of the previous three goalkeepers – Kevin Broll, Stefan Drljaca and Daniel Mesenhöler – are all due to expire. And it is now clear that Mesenhöler has extended his contract – and Drljaca, the previous number one, is moving to the Bundesliga.

Drljaca will play for VfB Stuttgart with immediate effect. The 25-year-old completes the goalkeeper team of the professional team around Alexander Nübel, Fabian Bredlow and Dennis Seimen.

I’m really happy to be here. VfB is a great club with incredible fans, the team has played an outstanding season. After the summer break, I want to play my part in pushing the goalkeeping team to peak performance and playing a successful season with VfB

The 1.92-meter tall, 25-year-old Drljaca brings the experience of 69 games in the 3rd division and 49 regional league games to VfB.

Drljaca grew up in Saarland and initially played for FC Homburg and SV Elversberg as a junior. In 2016, he moved to TSG Hoffenheim’s youth academy at the age of 17. In parallel to his appearances in the A-Junior Bundesliga in the 2017/2018 season, he also made his first regional league appearance for TSG Hoffenheim II. In 2020, Stefan Drljaca moved from TSG Hoffenheim to Borussia Dortmund, where he played for BVB II and was promoted to the 3rd division with the team in the summer of 2021.

After a third-division season in Dortmund, he joined Dynamo Dresden in the summer of 2022, where he made a further 54 third-division appearances.

“I’m really happy to be here. VfB is a great club with incredible fans, the team has played an outstanding season. After the summer break, I want to play my part in ensuring that we in the goalkeeping team push ourselves to peak performance and play a successful season with VfB,” says Drljaca.

VfB sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth adds: “Due to our participation in the Champions League and the promotion of our U21s to the 3rd division, it is particularly important that we can build on a qualitatively and quantitatively strong goalkeeping team for the new season. Stefan Drljaca has all the prerequisites to quickly find his feet with us and become an important part of our goalkeeping group. We are delighted that Stefan has decided to join us and wish him a good start at VfB. “
