Three candidates still in the running – deadline for new man set

Wuppertaler SV have said goodbye to the winter break with a 4-0 win at Borussia Mönchengladbach II. The new coach is to be presented in the next few days.

A sigh of relief at Hubertusallee: After a turbulent last week of work, the Wuppertaler SV is now in the winter break. And: the team was able to say goodbye to the vacation with a commanding 4-0 victory at Borussia Mönchengladbach II.

The Red and Blues are now taking a break, nine points behind the top of the table, before the new year begins. “I think overall more would have been possible in terms of the league position. We just have to step it up, get more consistency and then, I think, we’ll play a good second half of the season and attack again. Because we haven’t been able to achieve what we set out to do so far,” Gaetano Manno told Forecasting.

It is not yet clear which coach will lead the WSV into the second half of the season and attack again. But in a few days, the fans will get the answer.

While Manno does not want to comment on the search for a coach, our editorial team has learned that three candidates, including interim coach Christian Britscho, are still in the running. Among them is said to be Dario Fossi and “Mister X”. According to our information, Manno has had contact and spoken to around ten coaches before settling on the final three-man list.

Who it will be in the end is to be decided in the next few days. The Wuppertal SV wants to present the new head coach by Christmas, so that they can then enjoy the peaceful holidays.

From the beginning of January, the new man and official successor to Hüzeyfe Dogan will then get started – including a training camp in Belek, Turkey – and try to achieve the impossible: leading Wuppertal SV to first place in the table after third and second place in the past two seasons, and thus back to professional football after almost 15 years. The last time the WSV was in the third division was in the 2009/2010 season.
