Three games, ten goals, three draws

Borussia Dortmund is unable to find a way out of the crisis in the Bundesliga. There is no victory against relegation candidates Mainz either. Hoffenheim and Leipzig also fail to get more than a draw.

Borussia Dortmund has taken a further setback into the winter break.

The team from Dortmund, which has been in crisis in the Bundesliga for weeks, could not get past a 1:1 (1:0) against FSV Mainz 05 on Tuesday evening.

At the same time, TSG Hoffenheim conceded a late goal to make the final score 3:3 (2:1) against SV Darmstadt 98, leaving them three points behind fifth-place BVB.

Earlier, RB Leipzig had also dropped points in the race for a Champions League place with a 1-1 (0-0) draw at Werder Bremen.

Julian Brandt (29th minute) had given Dortmund the lead with a free-kick. Sepp van den Berg (43rd minute) equalized shortly before half-time. In the first half, BVB should have scored more given the number of chances they had, but after the break, the hosts played surprisingly harmlessly.

Hoffenheim also experienced a sobering evening in the end. Andrej Kramaric (14th minute) and Ihlas Bebou (28th/66th minute) scored for the hosts. Luca Pfeiffer (23rd minute) and Tim Skarke (57th/86th minute) secured the draw for the promoted team.

In the early game of the evening, Werder Bremen had previously snatched a point from Leipzig with a bit of luck. Loïs Openda (47th minute) had put the visitors in the lead shortly after half-time. Justin Njinmah (75th minute) managed to equalize for Bremen with a fine shot from distance. Thanks to the point, Werder have at least slightly extended their lead over the direct relegation places for the time being. Leipzig, still in third place, could be overtaken by VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday.
