Three games, three defeats! Club boss announces talks with coach

1:3, 1:2 and 0:5: These are the results of 1. FC Bocholt in the Regionalliga West so far. The dissatisfaction at the Hünting is already palpable.

SC Preußen Münster thrashed 1. FC Bocholt 5:0 in the small derby. In front of 9,000 spectators at Hammerstraße, the promoted team simply had no chance against the promotion favourites.

This was also the opinion of Bocholt club boss Ludger Triphaus, with whom RevierSport spoke the day after the defeat in Münster, the third defeat in the third match. According to information from RS, the chair of the promotion coach, Jan Winking, also seems to be wobbling. Triphaus also takes a stance on this issue.

Ludger Triphaus, what is your conclusion after Friday evening in Münster?

We are all disappointed. Losing 0:5 is always bitter. But you also have to look in the mirror and be honest: The difference between the Regionalliga and the Oberliga is immense. It feels like there are two leagues between them. Münster showed us how strong a professional team is. They were and are simply better than us. I have to say after three games that we haven’t arrived in the league yet.

How do you explain that?

We couldn’t really enjoy the promotion. Two or three weeks later, the preparation already started. But we have to be able to cope with that. The Oberliga season always drags on a bit. We had a shorter breather than the regional league teams. That’s noticeable now at the start of the season.

We’ve worked long enough and invested a lot to be allowed to play in this league. We don’t want to be relegated again after one year. We will do everything we can to prevent that!

Is the team fit for the Regionalliga?

We think so. We have a lot of Regionalliga experience in our squad with players like Platzek, Grund, Stojanovic, Fakhro or Goralski and of course the injured Windmüller, whose absence hurts us a lot. These are regional league players. But the other guys still have to prove that they can also play in this league. That’s also up to the coach.

Keyword coach: According to our information, Jan Winkings’ chair is already wobbling. What can you say about this personnel matter?

The fact is that nobody enjoys a free ride in this business – neither at FC Bayern München nor at 1. FC Bocholt. I will have intensive talks with our coach in the coming week and we will see what we can and must change so that the team scores. We’ll discuss that together and in peace and quiet.

Is the promotion euphoria at the Hünting already gone?

Look: In football it’s like this: if you’re successful, people, fans, sponsors are also more interested in the team, in the club. The other way round, there is less interest. We have to make sure that interest in 1. FC Bocholt remains high in the regional league. The best arguments for this are victories, points! We have worked long enough and invested a lot to be allowed to play in this league. We don’t want to be relegated again after one year. We will do everything we can to prevent that!

On the next matchday, Wuppertaler SV will come to Bocholt. What do you expect from the team?

I expect a different face than in Münster. I expect the boys to go to and beyond their performance limits and tear themselves apart. We have to start scoring. But it’s also clear that after Münster, Wuppertal, the next big league team, is waiting for us. Nevertheless, we are looking forward to the game. The Hünting will be well filled.
