FC Erzgebirge Aue is finding itself in an increasingly tight relegation battle. Even a newly promoted team that has long been at the bottom of the table is too strong.
FC Erzgebirge Aue has suffered another serious setback in the relegation battle in the 3rd soccer league. Jens Härtel’s team lost 3-1 (1-0) to TSV Havelse, who were second from bottom in the table, after conceding three late goals. Three games, three defeats, zero points: that is now Aue’s sobering record since the winter break.
Jonah Fabisch gave the 17th-placed team the lead in stoppage time in the first half (45+1) at the Eilenriedestadion in Hanover. But after the break, Marcel Bär failed to capitalize on a great chance to make it 2-0 (49), allowing the promoted team to stay in the game.
Nassim Boujellab (74th minute) and Lorenzo Paldino (81st minute) turned the game around in the final phase within seven minutes. Robin Müller sealed the deal in stoppage time (90+8). Havelser, who had been far behind in the table for a long time, closed the gap to FC Erzgebirge to three points.
Except for the final phase of the first half and the beginning of the second half, Aue disappointed, especially in attack. Even after conceding two goals, they noticeably lacked the belief and enthusiasm to come back in this important game.
