Three third division clubs, one regional league club – the semi-finalists have been decided

SV Lippstadt completes the semi-final line-up in the Westfalenpokal. They will face SC Verl.

The last participant in the Westfalenpokal semi-final has been decided. In addition to the three third division clubs Arminia Bielefeld, SC Verl and Preußen Münster, regional league club SV Lippstadt has also qualified for the last four and can continue to dream of the DFB Cup.

The perceived final will take place in Bielefeld, where Arminia will face Münster. Lippstadt will have to travel to SC Verl. It’s a difficult task, but the team in the fourth division has a duty to perform.

Important for Lippstadt: The 4-1 (1-0) win in front of 205 spectators against RSV Meinerzhagen, who are in eighth place in the Westfalenliga II, also boosted the fourth division club’s confidence for the tough relegation battle in the Regionalliga.

Niek Munsters scored before half-time and then added two more after the break, laying the foundation for what should have been an easy evening for the favorites. But just when it seemed certain that Lippstadt would score a third goal, the underdog pulled a goal back through Lukas Finke.

The final score was 3-3.

Lippstadt: Westphal – Fischer, Sori-Kaba, Ufuk, Örnek – Holtkamp, Klann – Lee (67. Kohl), J. Munsters, N. Munsters – Maier (67. Wagner)

Meinerzhagen: Wroblewski – Steglich (74. Kayala), Albayrak, Dissing – Germann, Gräßer, Kunkel (68. Sordi), Topatan, Akhabach (90. Becker) – Finke, Schwarzer (90. Neumann)

Goals: 1:0 N. Munsters (27.), 2:0 N. Munsters (48.), 2:1 Finke (73.), 3:1 Kaiser (88.), 4:1 Kaiser (90.)

Spectators: 205

And now it was clear that SVL is not blessed with self-confidence at the moment. They even conceded the 2-2, but the referee had previously seen a foul on goalkeeper Steffen Westphal. Gerrit Kaiser then made everything clear with his double shortly before the end.

Lippstadt’s next league game is against Fortuna Cologne on Saturday (February 24, 2 p.m.). The SVL has to catch up a five-point deficit in the remaining 14 games to avoid relegation to the Oberliga Westfalen.

RSV Meinerzhagen’s next game is at home against Hombrucher SV on Sunday (February 25, 3 p.m.).
