FC Schalke 04 can continue to rely on its fans in the coming season. Within a few hours, all home games for the first half of the season were sold out
The new season hasn’t even started yet, but FC Schalke 04 is already chasing records again. On Friday, the Royal Blues put the tickets for the eight first-round home games on the market. Only S04 members were entitled to access
It took a full four hours for the club to announce that all tickets were sold out. This means that at least 55,000 Schalke fans will once again be cheering on their team at each match. A phenomenon. Even the sometimes disappointing performances in the 2nd division last season and capacity problems with online sales have not deterred Schalke fans from once again backing their club unconditionally.
As in previous years, season ticket sales were stopped at 40,000 season tickets. A good 6,000 of the 62,271 tickets available are being held back for visiting fans. Added to this are the VIP tickets, meaning that just under 15,000 tickets per match are or were initially available for day sales. However, if visiting clubs do not use up their full allocation, some tickets could still go on sale at a later date. However, this always depends on whether security areas have to be kept free
It will be exciting to see whether the Royal Blues can improve on the all-time second division world record they set themselves last season with an average of 61,502 spectators. However, the stadium occupancy rate was already just under 99%. A total of 1,045,465 fans attended Schalke’s home matches last year.
To give more fans the opportunity to get one of the coveted tickets, Schalke has limited the purchase of tickets for the North Curve to two per purchaser this year. For Schalke supporters who were initially left empty-handed, there is also the S04 ticket exchange, where fans who do not want to or cannot attend a match can legally re-list and sell their ticket
