The decision has been made. Bundesliga club VfL Bochum has extended the contract of captain Anthony Losilla (36) for another year.
Good news for the fans of VfL Bochum. Those responsible for the Bundesliga football club have worked out an agreement with captain Anthony Losilla (36) to continue their cooperation. The contract of the VfL veteran will be extended by one year until 30 June 2024. This was announced by VfL Bochum on Wednesday.
Losilla will also be given the opportunity to take up a coaching position at VfL Bochum after the end of his career. VfL sporting director Patrick Fabian is delighted about the contract extension of the midfielder, who has played for the Revierklub since 2014: “Having Toto in the team means: sporting quality, diligence, experience, a maximum of identification with the club, one hundred percent focus on the job. Anthony Losilla is a role model, not only for young players. He always leads the way, whether in training or in the game. In short: an absolute asset for the club. That’s why we’re happy to have him in the squad for at least another year and, moreover, we’re very pleased that he will continue to bring his personality and high level of sporting expertise to VfL after his career.”
Even at the high footballing age of 36, Losilla is one of the key performers in the team of relegation-threatened Bochum. The Frenchman has missed only 20 minutes of play this season. Under coach Thomas Letsch, Losilla, who is strong in running and tackling, is set to play.
On his contract extension, he says: “I spent the longest part of my professional career in Bochum and at VfL. The city and the club have grown on me, my family is here, we feel comfortable. The commitment is great, I’m still burning for VfL and ready to support the team on the pitch. I’m also very happy that the people in charge at VfL also have confidence in me, even beyond my active career. I want to help inspire and train future generations of players for VfL. “
