Draw in the top game! Rot-Weiss Essen II and SC Frintrop separate after 90 minutes with 1:1. It was a game with a lot of emotion on and off the pitch.
It was a top game with a lot of emotion and passion. Both teams gave their all for 90 minutes and in the end, Rot-Weiss Essen II and SC Frintrop played out a 1-1 draw in the Essen Kreisliga A in a performance-related manner.
Referee Felix Burmann had plenty to do during the game. tempers flared repeatedly on and off the pitch, with the players exchanging “kind words” every now and then.
The supporters of both clubs were quickly carried away by the emotions on the pitch. The game turned into a real district league kick. Every decision made by the referee was loudly criticized on and off the pitch.
The first half clearly belonged to Rot-Weiss Essen II, who thoroughly deserved their lead. In the second half, Frintrop came out of the locker room well and the equalizer was not surprising.
The club’s mission is clear. We want to get promoted and make the second team more attractive for younger players.
Stefan Lorenz
RWE coach Stefan Lorenz drew the following conclusion: “We had the first half completely under control. Frintrop changed during the break and we had problems reacting to it. I think the draw is okay.”
Lorenz on the excitement of the game and the future of the second team
In the 62nd minute, the excitement of the game happened. Frintrop had equalized just a few moments before to make it 1-1, and then celebrated extensively in front of the supporters who had traveled with them. This did not please some RWE players, and a scrum quickly developed. Louis Förster shouted loudly: “Ref, he spat at me!”
The situation was confusing and the assistant referees also had to keep the squabblers apart. After a long discussion and vehement objections to the referees, RWE captain Burak Bahadir was shown a yellow-red card.
“I don’t want to criticize the referees, but unfortunately he often lost his train of thought and assessed situations completely wrong. Our captain has the right to talk to the referee and still he’s sent off for it. That can’t be,” said Lorenz.
For RWE II, it was the second draw in a row. The 43-year-old coach emphasized: “I can live with the point. Nevertheless, we now have to start winning again to move forward. You have to work harder to beat us. That’s our conclusion. The club’s mission is clear. We want to get promoted and make the second team more attractive for younger players.”
