Top scorer also leads Germany, only one player is better

Borussia Mönchengladbach II may not lead the Regionalliga West, but they do lead the scoring charts. Only one player has scored more goals in Germany.

Borussia Mönchengladbach II is only in sixth place in the Regionalliga West. However, one of its players is at the top of the scoring charts. Jan Urbich has already scored eleven goals in ten games.

The competition is well behind. Leon Demaj of Sportfreunde Lotte has scored eight goals in nine games. Patrik Twardzik has also scored eight times for FC Gütersloh, but it took him ten games to do so. Urbich may not have scored in two games, but he still leads the Regionalliga West scoring charts by a comfortable margin. And the 21-year-old has no reason to hide anywhere in Germany either.

With a distorted number of games across the other four leagues, he is in second place. Only Mats Facklam from VfB Oldenburg in the Regionalliga Nord is doing even better in absolute terms, with twelve goals in twelve games.

Points Table

With ten goals in nine games, Urbich is also hot on the heels of Fabian Eisele from Sonnenhof Großaspach in the Regionalliga Südwest. Julian Ulbricht has also scored ten times in the Regionalliga Nord for SV Meppen, but has needed twelve games to do so.

Borussia Mönchengladbach II recently played 1-1 in Paderborn

In the recent 1-1 draw against SC Paderborn II, Urbich played for Borussia Mönchengladbach II for 90 minutes. The leading role was involuntarily played by another player.

Julian Korb, who has played 116 times in the Bundesliga and has long been part of the first team, made a sliding tackle in the 44th minute and was sent off with a red card. So the score was 1-1, but with eleven against ten men going into the break.

In the second half, SC Paderborn II wanted to capitalize on their numerical advantage. Borussia Mönchengladbach II came under constant fire, but held their ground.

The young Foals were actually able to take a point from the Peacock City thanks to a goal from Yannick Michaelis (27′). Sportfreunde Siegen are coming on Sunday, October 5, at 2 p.m. From Gladbach’s point of view, the duel with the second-placed team would be a good time for Urbich to end his little “dry spell.”
