Top scorer – ex-captain the celebrated man in the Regionalliga Nordost.

Rufat Dadashov moved from FC Schalke 04’s U23 to the Regionalliga Nordost in the summer. There, things are going outstandingly well for the goal scorer.

After two years in the second team of Schalke, Rufat Dadashov wanted to know it again. The experienced striker moved from the Knappenschmiede to BFC Dynamo in the summer. With the northeast regional league club, he is aiming for promotion to the 3rd league. “I wanted to play for something again,” the 32-year-old said in an interview with RBB.

And so far it does not look bad for Dadashov and the Berliners. They have only conceded one defeat and are three points behind the promotion places in third place. Dadashov has played a key role in the strong start to the season: with nine goals from nine appearances, the Azerbaijan native is BFC’s guarantee of success. He leads the scoring charts in the northeast division.

After a mini-slump of three games without a goal, Dadashov made an impressive comeback last matchday. With a triple pack, he advanced to the celebrated man in the 4-0 win over Chemnitzer FC.

“I was incredibly pleased that he was absolutely our match-winner in Chemnitz,” coach Dirk Kunert told the Berliner Kurier. “For Dada it was incredibly important that he scores. He always goes forward, in training, in the games. He’s a mouthpiece. “

It is qualities that also distinguished Dadashov during his time at Schalke. The striker arrived in 2021 and was expected to take a leadership role in the young Schalke team. In the preseason, he wore the captain’s armband. He also contributed a double-digit goal haul to the team’s class preservation in each of the past two years.

Then the move to the capital – a return for Dadashov. The ex-national player wore the BFC jersey in the 2017/18 season. He stood out then, too, shooting the club to victory in the national cup and becoming the top scorer in the regional league with 25 goals in 25 appearances.

If Dadashov can maintain his current rate this season, he could even surpass the figure from his first time in Berlin…
