Top teams remain in place – Obercastrop still in relegation zone

The top teams in Westfalenliga 2 remain close together. One team takes advantage of the others’ draws.

Most of the top teams in Westfalenliga 2 remained in place on the tenth match day. Only one team managed to secure an important victory – which was also the highest on Sunday. TuS Erndtebrück not only defeated Westfalia Herne 4-0 (1-0), but also moved up to third place in the table. Herne, who had shown improving form in recent weeks, remain in mid-table. There was little movement at the top of the table, mainly because neither SpVgg Horsthausen, Holzwickeder SC nor leaders DJK TuS Hordel were able to pick up three points. The top match between Horsthausen and Holzwickede ended goalless.

Hordel had to settle for a 1-1 (1-1) draw at RSV Meinerzhagen, but continued to defend their lead at the top of the table.

DSC Wanne-Eickel ended its losing streak of recent weeks. The Wanne-Eickel team won 2-0 against bottom-of-the-table SpVg Hagen, further increasing the gap between themselves and the relegation places. They are now one step closer to their big goal of staying in the league.

This is becoming more and more of a challenge for Wacker Obercastrop. Even after parting ways with Kevin Großkreutz’s coaching team, the club is still struggling to get going. They lost 3-4 to SC Obersprockhövel after coming back from 0-2 down to lead 3-2.

In addition to Hagen and Obercastrop, FC Brünninghausen is also in a relegation spot. FCB from Dortmund lost 1-3 to FC Iserlohn. Only a double strike in injury time robbed Brünninghausen of the hoped-for draw.

SSV Buer is also at the bottom of the table. The Rothosen lost 1-3 to BSV Schüren and will have to wait a little longer for their third win of the season. Oberliga relegation side Concordia Wiemelhausen managed to secure that very third win of the season, beating Vesta Disteln 2-1 and benefiting from Disteln’s failure to convert a penalty that could have levelled the score.
