Victor Lafay takes the stage win in the second stage of the 110th Tour de France, Adam Yates can defend the yellow jersey in San Sebastián.
In the seconds poker on the penultimate Tour de France stage in the Basque country, an attacking Tadej Pogacar put his big rival and defending champion Jonas Vingegaard under a lot of pressure. On the super difficult first two stages of the 110th Tour, the two-time champion from Slovenia collected eleven bonus seconds among with two third places.
In addition, Pogacar’s teammate Adam Yates took the yellow jersey with his opening victory, which he successfully defended on the second stage when Frenchman Victor Lafay won the day.
On Monday, the Tour will then set course for France in the third stage over 193.5 kilometres from Amorebieta-Etxano to Bayonne.
This also raises security concerns for the Tour organisers. The unrest in France could also affect the Grande Nation’s most important sporting event by the seventh stage ending in Bordeaux on Friday at the latest. Security precautions will then be increased during the stages.
