VfL Bochum has arrived at the training camp in South Tyrol. With one player less than first planned.
VfL Bochum arrived at the training camp on Sunday. They travelled by plane to Innsbruck and from there by bus to the hotel. In Gais/South Tyrol, where the club is preparing for the third time, coach Thomas Letsch will give his team the finishing touches for the upcoming season in the Bundesliga.
Two test matches are currently planned. Both opponents play in the Italian Serie B and are familiar from past training camps. On Wednesday (26 July, 6 p.m.), it’s against Spezia Calcio. At the end of the week, a match against Parma Calcio (Saturday, 29 July, 5 pm) is scheduled.
The idea is to use as many players as possible. The original plan was for the Bochum team to set off with 25 field players and four goalkeepers.
In the end, there were only 24 field players because Moritz Römling, who was last on loan to Rot-Weiss Essen, had to miss the game due to illness. He is expected to join the team. This should also apply to a possible addition. After all, the VfL is still looking for a defender.
Ideally, the potential newcomer will fly in to join the team as soon as possible. The first unit will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday. The injured Philipp Förster and Moritz-Broni Kwarteng as well as Mats Pannewig and Moritz Broschinski (adductor problems) will not be present. The quartet worked in the weight room, but Broschinski is expected to be back with the team on Monday.
So far, around 50 VfL supporters are on site, but a few more fans are expected. Last year, around 250 VfL supporters were on site. gp / cb
