Transfer coup! 154-time third division player signs

Sportfreunde Siegen seem to have big plans for the future. The next ex-professional has signed at the Leimbachstadion.

Sportfreunde Siegen are once again fighting against relegation this season. The traditional club has once again made some top-class additions to its squad to ensure that it stays in the relegation zone – from the club’s point of view, gladly earlier than last season.

In Markus Pazurek, the Oberliga club has signed an absolute veteran for the defensive midfield. The 35-year-old joins from SSVg Velbert, for whom he made 16 appearances and scored five goals in the first half of the Regionalliga West season.

“Markus is a real difference-maker, has an enormous understanding of the game and is a leader on the pitch,” emphasizes Ottmar Griffel, Sportfreunde’s sporting director. “His qualities lie not only in the build-up play, where he can significantly shape a team’s play as a central leader, but he is also extremely capable of scoring goals himself.”

Pazurek brings the experience of 154 games in the 3rd division for Fortuna Köln, 1. FC Saarbrücken and VfB Stuttgart II. The family man also played 167 games in the Regionalliga West for clubs such as 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn, Borussia Mönchengladbach II and SSVg Velbert. He signed a contract with Sportfreunde Siegen until June 30, 2025.

The versatile midfielder Dej has already played 90 games in the 3rd division for Viktoria Köln and Sportfreunde Lotte. He scored eleven goals and made 14 assists. He has also made 184 appearances in the Regionalliga West (25 goals, 22 assists) for Rot Weiss Ahlen, Fortuna Köln, Alemannia Aachen, Lotte, Viktoria Köln – and Sportfreunde Siegen.

Pazurek and Dej are the second and third winter reinforcements. Previously, Siegen also signed Georgios Mavroudis (SG Finnentrop/Bamenohl). Meanwhile, Maximilian Kraft (TSV Weißtal) and Andreas Busik (destination unknown) have left the club
