Transfer coup! 154-time third division player signs

The Sportfreunde Siegen seem to have big plans for the future. The next ex-professional has signed in the Leimbachstadion.

This season, the Sportfreunde Siegen are again fighting against relegation. In order to avoid relegation – from the club’s point of view sooner than in the last season – the traditional club has again strengthened its squad with high-caliber players.

With Markus Pazurek, the Oberliga club has signed an absolute veteran for the defensive midfield. The 35-year-old comes from SSVg Velbert, for whom he played in 16 games and scored five goals in the first half of the Regionalliga West season.

“Markus is a real difference-maker, has an enormous understanding of the game and leads by example on the pitch,” emphasizes Ottmar Griffel, the club’s sporting director. ”His qualities are not limited to building up play, where he can have a significant impact on a team’s play as a central linchpin; he is also extremely dangerous in front of goal himself.”

Pazurek has 154 matches in the 3rd Bundesliga under his belt, playing for Fortuna Cologne, 1. FC Saarbrücken and VfB Stuttgart II. The family man has also played 167 matches in the Regionalliga West for clubs such as 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn, Borussia Mönchengladbach II and SSVg Velbert. He signed a contract with Sportfreunde Siegen until June 30, 2025.

The traditional club, threatened with relegation, had already caused a stir by signing Andre Dej. The 31-year-old last played for league rivals TuS Bövinghausen.

The versatile midfielder Dej has already played 90 games in the 3rd division for Viktoria Cologne and Sportfreunde Lotte. He scored eleven goals and made 14 assists. He also made 184 appearances in the West German Regional League (25 goals, 22 assists) for Rot Weiss Ahlen, Fortuna Cologne, Alemannia Aachen, Lotte, Viktoria Cologne – and Sportfreunde Siegen.

Pazurek and Dej are the second and third winter reinforcements. Siegen also previously signed Georgios Mavroudis (SG Finnentrop/Bamenohl). Meanwhile, Maximilian Kraft (TSV Weißtal) and Andreas Busik (destination unknown) have left the club.
