Turkey training camp instead of withdrawal – Tecklenburg: “Playing season to an end!”

Following the insolvency of Hermann Tecklenburg’s company, many soccer fans wondered what this meant for SV Straelen. The entrepreneur provides the answer.

Just a few days ago, Kevin Wolze, head of sport at SV Straelen, told Forecasting about the future of the Oberliga club: “Hermann spoke to us and the team and said that things will continue. The only question is to what extent? We will discuss this in the next few days. I don’t know what will happen at the moment. We will now try to clarify that. I can’t say any more than that yet.”

There is now clarity: Even after the company “Tecklenburg GmbH”, which employs a good 100 people, filed for insolvency, SV Straelen will continue to operate. This was confirmed to the Rheinische Post by entrepreneur Hermann Tecklenburg, who is also president of SVS.

Tecklenburg: “We will not be parting with any players now. The team will fly to a training camp in Turkey at the beginning of February as agreed and will then play out the season as normal.” So the third-placed team will definitely be going to Belek in Turkey from February 3 to 9 as planned.

Tecklenburg’s priority: company, private life, soccer

Although the 75-year-old businessman emphasized that the 2023/2024 season will not be jeopardized and will be played to the end, he did not want to speculate on the future of the club from Römerstrasse. He said: “For now, it’s all about the future of the company, then comes private life and perhaps soccer in third place.” Is the club’s withdrawal at the end of the season an issue? Teckleburg’s answer: “I haven’t thought about that yet. There’s still more than six months until the new season. A lot can happen in that time.”

After the current season at the latest, at least manager Wolze will probably give up his position as sporting director and concentrate on another position.

“I want to become a coach. I’ve realized that I enjoy it more, that I have more influence and can give the boys more input than in the role of sporting director. I’m also aiming to get my A license. Maybe I’ll start as an assistant coach in the Oberliga or Regionalliga or even as a head coach in the Landesliga. Let’s see what opportunities arise for me,” the family man recently told Forecasting.
