On the 2nd matchday of the Oberliga Westfalen, Türkspor Dortmund had to pay dearly and lost to the efficient TSG Sprockhövel with 1:3 (1:1). Coach Sebastian Tyrala is disillusioned.
Once again, Türkspor Dortmund missed out on their first win of the season in the Oberliga Westfalen. Although the promoted team was the better team on paper against TSG Sprockhövel, missed chances were bitterly punished. In the end, the visitors from the Ennepe-Ruhr district won 3:1 (1:1) on matchday 2.
At first, however, everything looked different: After just eight minutes, Koray Dag fired the ball under the crossbar from an acute angle for a 1:0 lead. After that, the Dortmunders almost went into a frenzy, but failed several times to save from the visitors’ keeper Philipp Knälmann, who reacted well.
Türkspor coach Sebastian Tyrala summed up: “When you miss three great chances to extend the lead, it’s sobering. At half-time, we definitely should have led by more. A 3:0 lead would not have been exaggerated. Then, shortly before and shortly after the break, we suffered a setback.”
In fact, TSG scored out of nowhere in the person of Kiyan Gilani to equalise 1-1 before the break (45th + 1). Immediately after the break, substitute Levin Müller turned the game around (46th) and hit the hosts right in the heart. After the goal, Sprockhövel hardly let anything happen and defended the score. Offensive player Gilani even increased the lead to 3:1 with a penalty kick and scored a brace (79th minute).
Tyrala was annoyed: “We had a total of ten chances, hit the post, often failed to hit the keeper, then were cleared on the line. The opponent, on the other hand, played out the attacks consistently and used them ice-cold. That is punished in the top division. And that’s no way to win a game.”
Sprockhövel scores with “willingness to run and fight”.
TSG Sprockhövel showed the experience of a seasoned Oberliga squad in Dortmund and bagged the win due to brutal efficiency. Coach Yakup Göksu would prefer to forget the first half: “It was one-way football and we were just spectators. An outstanding footballing quality and performance from Türkspor. We are lucky that the opponent only scored one goal. When you let this team play, all you can do is react.”
But his team fought their way back into the game and showed a completely different face after the break. Unconditional commitment on the part of the TSG eleven was finally rewarded: “We were able to win every duel, fought a lot and beat Türkspor in terms of fitness in the end,” recognised coach Göksu and claimed: “For our investment in the points of running and fighting spirit in the second half, we don’t necessarily go home as the undeserved winners after 90 minutes. “
