Tues Hiltrup are still very much in the promotion race in Westfalenliga 1. Those responsible are already busy preparing for the coming season in the background.
TuS Hiltrup is on a real roll. In the new year, they won all three games in Westfalenliga 1 – without conceding a single goal. With 28 goals in 19 games, Hiltrup’s offense is only in eleventh place, but the strong defense (18 goals conceded, best in the league) ensures that the club is back in the promotion race.
Only five points separate Hiltrup from leaders Verl II, and just two points from second-placed Westfalia Kinderhaus – who could qualify for a promotion play-off at the end of the season. And Hiltrup still has a game in hand.
So there is still a lot possible in terms of promotion. Nevertheless, the planning for the coming season is already well advanced. On Monday, the Westphalians unveiled their seventh new summer signing: Jonas Weißem is moving to Hiltrup from league rivals SC Peckeloh.
Hiltrup coach Stöppel is delighted with the “real gain”
The 24-year-old midfielder is one of the absolute regulars for the sixth-placed team in the table. “Jonas is very complete in his game. He runs well against the ball and wins a lot of balls. He is always dangerous with the ball, especially with his deep runs. With his calm and very reliable manner, he will be a real asset on and off the pitch,” said coach Marcel Stöppel, delighted with his new signing.
Hiltrup had already been very active on the transfer market in the previous weeks. In the previous week, goalkeeper Lukas Fiedler from district league club SC Greven 09 confirmed his signing. In addition, the transfers of Felix Bussmann (Vorwärts Wettringen), Marco Costa Rocha, Moritz Pauli (both Borussia Münster), Lukas Berger (Lüner SV) and Finn Lenze (Münster 08) have already been confirmed.
The squad is therefore already taking shape. Meanwhile, it remains unclear where the journey will take them. The first promotion to the Oberliga in the club’s history is certainly realistic after the performances shown in recent weeks
