Lovers can also get their money’s worth on the upcoming Schalke Day.
Schalke Day will take place on July 21. The not-so-secret highlight for many S04 fans attracts between 80,000 and 100,000 supporters of the Royal Blues to the club grounds every year.
Last season was an exception. After the club was relegated from the Bundesliga again, heavy rain prevented a better attendance at the event, which was held entirely outdoors on the arena grounds. Nevertheless, 50,000 Schalke fans attended the official opening of the Royal Blues’ season throughout the day last year.
This year, however, the miners are aiming for the 100,000 mark again. They are not only hoping for the weather gods to play along this year. There are also two new highlights in the schedule between talk rounds with the players, autograph stands, hands-on modules and various presentations by fan associations and sponsors.
For the first time, it will also be possible to get married during the Schalke Day. And not in the small arena chapel, where fans of the cult club regularly say “I do”. Instead, it will be in front of several thousand fans on the large stage at the Tausend-Freunde-Mauer. “Is your love as big as your royal blue passion? Then you’ve come to the right place: We’re looking for real yes-men – marry the love of your life at the club of your heart on Schalke-Tach!”, the club now called on its supporters via the club channels. “We are arranging a free wedding ceremony with lots of highlights and surprises – all you have to do is say yes,” the club writes.
However, marriage-mad Schalke fans don’t have much time to think about it. The future spouses have until Tuesday (June 25) to apply and answer four questions: How long they have been together, what connects them to Schalke, what they want from the blue and white wedding and why the club should choose them. They also have to upload a photo together.
There will also be another highlight: between 12 noon and 1 p.m., S04 fan Andre Tegeler, better known as Moguai, will be DJing on the Tausend-Freunde stage. Moguai has already attended the club’s 120th anniversary celebrations and has had the Royal Blues in his heart since his childhood in Recklinghausen. At the really big gigs, he also likes to play in the S04 jersey.
As always, however, the club’s players take center stage. The fans can get a first impression of the new arrivals in particular. And there are quite a few of them again
