For weeks, VfB Frohnhausen has felt like it was going nowhere. After only one point from the last six games, personnel consequences will be drawn in the next few days.
VfB Frohnhausen was leading 2:1 at SC Reusrath and until the 78th minute everything looked as if the Essen Landesliga team would be able to stop its negative run.
But that was not to be! After the equaliser in the 78th minute, VfB collapsed like a house of cards and conceded the 2:3 and 2:4 goals in injury time.
“Since the Steele game at the beginning of October, we have fallen into old patterns. We got four red cards after that, the boys dropped out and the experienced players couldn’t lead the team. It was exactly the same case a year ago,” Issam Said tells us.
The VfB coach and Frohnhausen veteran – Said is in his eleventh year at Raumerstraße – has had enough and is even considering his own resignation.
But at the end of the day, it’s not about Issam Said at all, but about the well-being of VfB Frohnhausen. And there are only two possibilities: Either I leave or four or five players leave. In any case, we have to draw personnel consequences. That will also be the case in the next few days.
Issam Said
“After the 2:2 goal in Reusrath, we were knocked out. Suddenly, everyone had nothing but grumbling and booing. I could see that nobody was thinking about playing football any more. That hurts. I’m not having any fun at the moment. Seven out of eleven players listen to me, and for the rest my words go in on the left and out on the right,” Said says clearly and adds: “I hardly slept from Sunday to Monday. All this is very close to my heart because I put my heart and soul into it. But at the end of the day, it’s not about Issam Said, it’s about the well-being of VfB Frohnhausen. And there are only two possibilities: Either I leave or four or five players leave. In any case, we have to draw personnel consequences. That will also be the case in the next few days.”
Before the winter break, Frohnhausen will still face league leaders DJK Adler Union Frintrop, fifth in the league BV Solingen and third DJK Blau-Weiß Mintard. There are certainly easier tasks in a sporting crisis.
