Two FC Schalke 04 talents have found a new club after leaving the U23. They are moving to Hansa Rostock and are scheduled to play in the second team.
After their time in Schalke 04’s Knappenschmiede came to an end, Elias Kurt and Arbnor Aliu have found a new club. The two S04 talents, who last played for the U23 in the Regionalliga West, have joined Hansa Rostock. At the traditional club from the Baltic coast, they are also scheduled to play in the second team.
The Rostock team made the announcement on Monday. The reserve team celebrated the championship in the Oberliga Nordost (North-East Division) last season and achieved promotion to the Regionalliga Nordost after many years. In their search for reinforcements who already have fourth-division experience, those responsible came across Kurt and Aliu.
The 20-year-old midfielder Kurt spent three years at Schalke. He had come from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2020, but did not make the jump to the pros. After 17 appearances for the U23s last season, the Moroccan U20 international is moving on to Rostock.
Centre-back Aliu has been through the Knappenschmiede’s youth teams since 2017. In his first senior year, the 20-year-old remained mostly a substitute – only four times did the Kosovo U21 international appear on the pitch in the Regionalliga.
Rostock also brings in players from Gladbach II
With Louis Köster, Hansa had already signed an S04 talent a year ago. With strong performances in the year of promotion, the midfielder also recommended himself for higher tasks and was allowed to play twice in the 2nd Bundesliga. Köster is now a permanent member of the professional squad.
In addition to Aliu and Kurt, the FCH has announced three other new arrivals for the start of preparation this Monday. Among them is striker Luca Barata, who comes from the U23 of Borussia Mönchengladbach and thus also from the West-Staffel. In addition, Jannis Lang (Berliner AK) and Jeremy Postelt (Union Fürstenwalde) are moving to the Hanseatic city.
“We are pleased that we were able to win these five newcomers for the U23. They all already know the fourth division and radiate the will that they want to help us further,” sports director Kristian Walter is quoted as saying by the club about the transfers. “They are all highly trained players, but they are also very young and therefore have enormous potential for development.
