FC Schalke 04 II has responded to the departure of Joey Müller by signing a new midfielder.
At the beginning of January, Forecasting reported that striker Felix Allgaier was in trial training with FC Schalke 04’s second team. A good three weeks later, it is clear: Allgaier will be a Royal Blue. This was officially announced by Schalke.
A week ago, both parties – Allgaier and his former club SC Freiburg II – terminated the existing contractual relationship by mutual agreement so that he could sign for Schalke.
“Felix is a running and strong midfielder who will strengthen the U23 defense after the departure of Joey Müller. He has already shown that in the winter preparation matches,” says Mathias Schober, Director of the Knappenschmiede and Development, about the 20-year-old addition from Breisgau.
Allgaier started playing soccer at his local club SV Haslach. Since the 2014/2015 season, he has played for SC Freiburg’s youth teams. Born in Offenburg, he made the leap into professional soccer with the Breisgau club and made his debut for the U23s in the 3rd division. He has made a total of nine appearances in the third division so far, in which he has not scored a goal.
The new signing is eligible to play with immediate effect and will be allowed to start in the regional league match at Wuppertaler SV next Saturday (February 3, 2 p.m., live ticker).
Jakob Fimpel, coach of FC Schalke 04’s U23s, has formulated clear goals ahead of the start of the 2024 season: “We’ve already put a few lads like Steven van der Sloot, Jimmy Kaparos and Nelson Amadin in a position where they can train with the licensed team in phases. Steven was also already in the second division squad. Some players also had the chance to show themselves in test matches. Individual development and permeability will always be one of the main goals at the Knappenschmiede.” Perhaps Allgaier can also draw attention to himself in the direction of the professional team
