The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) had decided to allow Russian teams to participate in its U17 competitions again. Minors should not be punished for actions for which only adults are responsible, UEFA said.

The Ukrainian Football Association wrote that it is convinced that such a decision, in the midst of Russia’s military action against Ukraine, is unfounded and approves of Russia’s aggressive policy.
According to the UEFA decision, the Russian national anthem may not be played and the Russian flag may not be displayed at matches involving Russia. The matches may also not be played on Russian territory.
The chairman of the Polish Football Association, Cezary Kulesza, announced that the Polish team would not play against Russia. The English association is also sticking to its decision not to play against Russia or Russian clubs with club and national teams. In the adult sector, Russian teams will be excluded from UEFA competitions.
