An ultra group of regional league soccer team Rot-Weiß Oberhausen has disbanded. The reason is the loss of members
For almost ten years, the ultra group “Rebellion Oberhausen” supported the regional league club Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. This will no longer be the case in the new season. The group announced its dissolution this Wednesday. They published a detailed statement on Instagram:
The reason for the dissolution: the loss of members. “In the past season, however, we were ultimately at a point where few people were able to maintain an entire name. With the loss of more members, we had to admit to ourselves that we could no longer live up to the standards we had sworn to uphold from the very beginning,” they say.
The decision was not an easy one. “Nevertheless, we are leaving with our heads held high, with the knowledge that we made many wrong decisions, but at least as many right ones, and we are closing the chapter of Rebellion Oberhausen. We’re leaving as friends, without bad blood and most importantly: we’re staying loyal to the club!”
The disbandment will have no impact on the fan container at the Niederrhein stadium, the statement continues. Forecasting had reported on the “Rebellion Oberhausen” when it took part in a fundraising campaign for the club in 2020 and handed over a sum of 10,000 to the RWO managers.
As a farewell, the fan group wrote: “One last appeal to everyone and to ourselves: This club is something very special. Even if often cursed, many people here have spent not only their youth, but also their entire adult lives supporting RWO by any means necessary. Don’t give up on this, don’t give up on what we have created and support this club!”
The first home game of the new regional league season will be played by the Cloverleaves on Saturday after next (July 27, 2 p.m.). The U23s of Borussia Mönchengladbach will then be the guests at the Stadion Niederrhein.
