Unhappy Stuttgart II coach – “The crowd was very quiet”

VfB Stuttgart’s U23 team impressively demonstrated why they are one of the strongest teams in the 3rd division at Rot-Weiss Essen.

No! VfB Stuttgart’s second team was not satisfied with the 1-1 draw at Rot-Weiss Essen. The Bundesliga club’s reserves were too superior, too dominant to concede a goal shortly before the end.

“It was a top, top game from us. We played really well and had some great chances. That’s why we’re very unhappy with the 1-1 draw. We didn’t let them intimidate us and we did our thing,“ said Mansour Ouro-Tagba on ”Magenta Sport.”

The player on loan from 1. FC Köln, who scored five times in the last six games before the Essen match, caused the Red and Whites a lot of problems. “Yes, I had my chances. As a striker, you always think you have to keep going because the next chance will come. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to score,” said the 20-year-old Togo international.

His coach was also not entirely satisfied with the point in Essen. Nico Willig summed up: “I’m not happy with the 1-1 draw. We played a great away game. We kept the opposition away from our goal for 87 minutes. There were no critical situations in front of our box. That was strong. Unfortunately, only until the 87th minute.”

It has something to do with confidence, the way we performed. The crowd was very quiet, and I think that speaks for us.

The fact that Stuttgart played so maturely in Essen-Bergeborbeck came as no surprise to the VfB II coach. What was surprising, however, was that the Hafenstraße was not a cauldron of noise on this Friday evening, but that was down to the visitors.

“The way we played had a lot to do with confidence. The crowd was very quiet, and I think that speaks for us. We just needed to be a little more effective, then next time we’ll score two goals and go home as winners,” emphasized Willig, who, with his Stuttgart talents, can look back on 26 points after 17 match days and is only four points behind Rot-Weiss Essen.

VfB Stuttgart II, now unbeaten in three games, will face Hansa Rostock at home and then VfL Osnabrück away to end the year. It remains to be seen whether the VfB jewels will also silence the Bremer Brücke.
