Verstappen unstoppable – Hamilton disqualified

Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen is running lonely circles at the top. At the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, he also drove away from everyone in the end.

Reigning Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen is unstoppable. On Sunday, he also won the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

It was the Dutchman’s 50th victory of his career and his third consecutive triumph on this demanding circuit.

Verstappen showed his winning qualities and once again left Lewis Hamilton from Great Britain behind him, who had to settle for second place. His compatriot Lando Norris finished third.

Things had not started well at all for Verstappen. He had to start from sixth place, but then rolled up the field from behind

Verstappen on the hunt for a record

With this outstanding victory, Verstappen adds another chapter to his already illustrious career and equals his own record of 15 wins in a single season.

The Red Bull star set a new points record in the Formula 1 World Championship: Four races before the end of the season, he now has 466 points to his name. His previous record was 454 points, set in the previous season. “I’m obviously very proud of my 50th win and will push for more victories,” said Verstappen.

At the end of the year, the Dutchman is likely to have the biggest lead in Formula 1 history. Verstappen also pushed up the record for the most laps in the lead per season

Hamilton subsequently disqualified

For Lewis Hamilton, there was another major setback after the race: he was disqualified retrospectively. The race stewards cited a non-compliant underbody on the Briton’s Mercedes as the reason: “The floor panels do not comply with Article 3.5.9 of the Technical Regulations.”.

As a result, McLaren driver Lando Norris moves up to second place behind winner Max Verstappen. Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz is now third. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, who had finished sixth, was also removed from the results list due to an irregular floor plate
