Verstappen unstoppable – Hamilton disqualified

Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen is pulling ahead alone. He also pulled away from everyone at the end of the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

Reigning Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen is unstoppable. On Sunday, he also won the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

For the Dutchman, it was already the 50th victory of his career and his third consecutive triumph on this demanding track.

Verstappen showed his winning qualities and once again left Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain behind, who had to settle for second place. His compatriot Lando Norris took third place.

But it hadn’t started well for Verstappen. He had to start from sixth place, but then rolled up the field from behind.

Verstappen on a roll

With this outstanding victory, Verstappen adds another chapter to his already illustrious career and sets his own record of 15 wins in a single season.

The Red Bull star set a new points record in the Formula 1 World Championship: with four races to go before the end of the season, he now has 466 points to his name. His previous best was 454 points, set in the previous season. “I’m obviously very proud of the 50th victory and will push for more wins,” said Verstappen.

At the end of the year, the Dutchman is likely to have the largest lead in Formula One history. Verstappen also further increased the record for the most laps led per season.

Hamilton disqualified retrospectively

For Lewis Hamilton, there was a major setback after the race: he was disqualified. The race commissioners cited an underbody on the Briton’s Mercedes that did not comply with the rules: “The floor panels do not comply with Article 3.5.9 of the Technical Regulations.”.

This means that McLaren driver Lando Norris moves up to second place behind winner Max Verstappen. Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz is now in third place. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, who had come in sixth, was also disqualified from the results list due to an illegal floor plate.
